This study pertains to the development of an AI based child painting analysis app and its use cases. Subjects of research are the app development and verification and the analysis of correlation between parenting stress and children’s paintings. The subjects of the study were 2,856 children aged 3 to 5 and their parents attending kindergartens under the juristiction of A-Province. Using the Korean parent stress scale and child painting as research tools, AI child painting analysis app and satisfaction surveys were used, and Spearman correlation coefficients, a nonparametric method, were used. Research findings are as follows. First, 22.8% of all caregivers experienced parenting stress above the normal level, and 7.1% were at a high risk level. Second, as a result of analyzing children's paintings, there were many children's paintings that could not express the subject because they could not draw scribbling-level paintings or understand explanations. Third, as a result of analyzing the correlation between parenting stress and child painting, the validity of convergence was confirmed in picture items such as color use, missing limbs, overpainting, and person expression methods. Fourth, it has been confirmed that, under the given conditions of this study, AI child painting analysis app produced results with the acceptable consistency and validity, demonstrating its potential as a children’s psychological screening function device. Fifth, in the parenting satisfaction survey, overall satisfaction was more than 90%, including improved child psychological understanding, system satisfaction and recommendation intention 97%, parenting stress understanding improvement 96%, and reuse intention 74%.
