The Effectiveness of Activity-centered Art Therapy Program for Mother-infant Interaction of School Maladjusted Children
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of activity-centered art therapy for improving mother-infant interaction on school maladjusted children. The subjects of this study were selected as her mother and the 9year old girl who has a problem with school maladjustment, and it was commissioned through Welfare Center in the A city. We conducted the activity-centered art therapy program over total 8 times session for 70minutes once a week from Jun.04, 2016 to Jul.23, 2016. In order to verify the effects of the program, the scale of the mother-infant interaction which was developed by Heathering and Clinggempeel(1992) and was translated by Gyeongjoo Moon(1995) was used. The scale of the mother-infant interaction used Parent Discipline Behavior(PBD), Expression of Affection(EAF). We also recorded and analyzed the changes of the mother-infant interaction at every session. The results of this study are as follows. First, the activity-centered art therapy had an influence on the mother-infant interaction and gave positive changes in school adaptation. Second, we confirmed that the mother-infant interaction changes which occurred in the activity-centered art therapy process were effective through the observation items of every session process. Therefore, the activity-centered art therapy which was conducted in this study improved the mother-infant interaction and it was found that it acted as positive factor to adapt to the school class and activities while finding the sense of stability at the same time.
